TSS 484 Visa Holders given 6 Months to find a New Sponsor

Minister for Immigration, Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs The Hon Andrew Giles MP has announced that “people working in Australia on a Temporary Skills Shortage (TSS) (subclass 482) visa will have 6 months instead of 60 days to be without an employer sponsor”. During this period, according to the Minister, they will continue to have work rights.

Termination of Employment

If an employee on a TSS visa has their employment terminated, he/she will have 6 months to find a new sponsor.

The TSS visa holder can commence working without waiting for a new nomination to be approved. However, a new nomination must be lodged within 6 months of them ceasing employment from their previous sponsor.

These changes have yet to be implemented and the date of when these changes will come into effect has not yet been announced.
