No Free Translating Services available to students coming to Australia to Study

On 17 June, 2024, the Australian government has announced that students entering Australia on visa subclass 500 will no longer be eligible for the Free Translating Service (FTS).

Free Translating Services and Student Visa

Previously, students entering Australia could use the Free Translating Service for the translation of up to 10 personal documents.  It aims to support participation in employment, education and community engagement. Permanent residents and select temporary or provisional visa holders are able to have up to 10 eligible documents translated into English. This applies within the first 2 years of their eligible visa grant date. Document translations required for visa applications are not eligible.

This change was made by Government as part of Budget 2024-25 and reflects the intent of the FTS to support people settling permanently in Australia in their participation in employment and community engagement.
